Spirit of Spring

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Spirit of Spring, Alphonse MuchaSpirit of Spring / Musée Carnavalet, Paris

Painted by Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Paris. A Litho of this painting is hanging halfway the staircase in the Villa Bethania. It’s a remarkable picture of 3 innocent girls dancing around a tomb alongside a hidious devil, disguised as a spring. The litho was bought at Home Décor in Paris just like some of the wallpaper in the Villa that was also designed by Mucha. How Saunière acquired the litho is unclear but it is certain that it came from Paris like some of Marie Dénarnaud’s dresses.

Combined Pieta

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Crucifixion and Christ and the Hare combined as oneFranck Daffos and Jean-Pierre Garcia of the French Rennes-le-Chateau site www.rennes-le-chateau-archive.com, recently made a remarkable discovery. The two paintings by the enigmatic Abbé Henri Gasq of Notre Dame de Marceille are actually one… They fit eachother like two parts of the same clockwork. When the two paintings are combined, a ‘dolmen’ very Crucifixion and Christ and the Hare combined as one (re-colored)clearly appears in the landscape and the clouds form one single sky.
