Jean Vié Tombstone

Tombstone of Jean ViéTombstone of Jean Vié

Curé de Rennes-les-Bains and predecessor of Henri Boudet. Through Abbé Cauneille, allegedly he learned of Antoine Bigou’s secret. There’s a curiosity going on with his tombstone. The epitaph displays: Mort le 1er 7bre 1872, curious because he actually died a day earlier. The number 17 that is thus displayed, plays a dominant role in the enigma’s and riddles of Rennes-le-Château. Among others 17th January is the date of death of Marie de Nègre d’Ables. Janvier means January in French. The dates on the Tombstone appear to have been adjusted to phonetically read : 1 7 Jean Vié or 17 Janvier (17th January).
